Professor Guo’s research focuses on water environmental sciences, watershed planning and management, system simulation and numerical optimization, and decision making under certainty. He has been working on environmental planning on regional and watershed scales with system modeling, forecasting and optimization. He has also been conducting research on both single and multi objective optimization under uncertainty. He has led or participated in more than 60 research projects, including some of the national key projects. He has been awarded for his achievement for multiple times at both national and provincial levels, including winning the Second Prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award (2009) and the First Prize of Science and Technology Award in Ministry of Education (2010). He has published more than 200 research articles in well-recognized academic journals, 15 monographs, and three textbooks, namely "Environmental Planning", "Essentials of Environmental Science" and "Urban Environmental Planning".
