His research is mainly in water ecological engineering. He has proposed novel biological and ecological technologies to remove oil in polluted fields. He has put forward a coupled coordination mechanism and developed a multimedia technology for denitrification in aquatic ecosystems. He has developed in situ remediation mechanisms for oil spill on Liaodong Bay wetlands and conducted research on the treatment of heavy oil–polluted wastewater and remediation of polluted wetland soil. He has published over 80 articles with an accumulated citation of 1586 times. He is the author of one book and the owner of 15 patents. He has designed wastewater treatment facilities serving 300,000 rural residents, which include the 1-km oil spill site on the shoals at Dalian Bay, and developed technology for the treatment of 200,000 tons of oil sludge.
