Prof. Zhao is engaged in the teaching and scientific research of environmental impact assessment and water environment for a long time. As a national certification Environmental Impact Assessment Engineer, he has completed more than 40 EIA projects, and participated in dozens of national construction project environmental impact assessment review. On the basis of practice, he formulated the institution Environmental monitoring and audit for construction project for Shenzhen Government. He combated the rich practical experience to his teaching. Prof. Zhao also engaged in some projects such as water environment, Ecology planning, and landuse/landcover areas. Using old maps, remote sensing and GIS technology, he analyzes the downstream of the Tarim and the process of land use and land degradation research reveals the driving mechanism of land degeneration is the lower reaches of tarim river, that affect the primary sources of downstream of the Tarim and land degradation is the unbalance in water resource. In terms of ecosystem services value assessment, he completed the project of the ecosystem service value assessment and monitoring of Hainan province.
