Peking University co-hosted the Global Honor College in 2008 and organized the Sustainable Development Summer School in 2009 with other eight universities from Asia and US, including Columbia University, Harvard University, Korea University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, National University of Singapore, University of Washington, Waseda University, Yale University. The faculty members and students from different disciplines discussed the sustainable development in technical, social, economic and ethical dimensions. The topics covered climate change, human health, clean water, energy, biodiversity, ecosystem functioning, poverty, human development, food production and security, globalization and the market economy. Up to now, 12 students from PKU took part in this program.
