Young researchers in Princeton University and Peking University alumni working in U.S. academic institutes got together for a workshop to discuss air pollution and climate-related research on May 18th, 2015 in Princeton. Prof. Tong Zhu, Dean of College of Environmental Sciences and Engineering in Peking University and Princeton Global Scholar, gave a keynote speech on the scientific and policy challenges for air pollution and energy issues in China. The workshop participants then presented their research works around four topics: climate-related research, the interaction of air pollution and climate, atmospheric chemistry, as well as air pollutant emissions, modeling and their impacts. The workshop not only enabled valuable academic communications across disciplines, but also connected the young scientists who share the dedication to addressing China’s air pollution and energy issues. The participants came from various research institutes, including Princeton University, Harvard University, Duke University, North Carolina State University, University of Iowa, and the Worthworth Center. The event was sponsored by Prof. Tong Zhu, and organized by the Princeton University China Energy Group.
