Amina J. Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations and Chair of the United Nations Sustainable Development Group, visited Peking University on June 30 and held discussions with professors and students.
Amina expressed gratitude for Peking University's invitation. She stated that this voyage to China demonstrated the strength of the Chinese people and the government's exemplary leadership. As the journey’s final destination, she looked forward to communicating with the young students and hearing their voices.
After the meeting, Amina and her delegation proceeded to Moonlight Hall for a discussion with nearly one hundred Peking University faculty and student representatives. Academician Zhu Tong, dean of the College of Environmental Sciences and Engineering (CESE), presided over the event.

Amina cited China's contributions to the fight against climate change in her speech. She encouraged young people to find solutions to ecological and climate change in urban and rural areas through cooperation and innovation, emphasized the importance of sustainable finance in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and looked forward to the students' commitment and creativity in creating a cleaner, safer, and more equitable world.
