Prof. Korshin’s research has continued to be focused on the properties and reactivity of NOM, spectroscopic methods to study NOM halogenation and proton/metal complexation, corrosion and metal release, electrochemical methods to remove contaminants and their
redox transformations. Many of his projects have been concerned with NOM characterization in diverse water sources and with the elucidation of pathways of formation and breakdown of halogenated DBPs. He has been actively engaged in studies concerned with the transformations of pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs) caused by ozonation, advanced oxidation processes and halogenation.
